What is Damson Gin? Damson Gin liqueur is a once forgotten classic that's come back to its roots.
Using the tiny Damson plums found amongst the hedgerows of England not only it is less bitter than Sloe Gin but slightly fruitier and ever so slightly sweeter. This is an outstanding traditional classic Damson Gin liqueur with the perfect balance of traditional flavour and tartness - twelve months maturing has certainly been worth the wait!
Best for: Drinking neat or as a alternate G&T
Meet the Maker
Handmade by a small and dedicated team for us by Colin and Phyllis Hingston from Worcestershire, England. This duo have been perfecting their family recipes which date back to 1848! The Shropshire Damsons are grown on their own farm, hand picked and, as with their Sloe Gin, left to infuse for at least twelve months in quality London Gin, rather than the common 6 month period other producers use. This produces a wonderful and rich Damson Gin.
Substitute for Sloe Gin if you prefer less bitterness. From an easy to make Damson Gin and Tonic, with Champagne or to more exotic cocktails, Damson Gin is a great ingredient to work with. Here are a few ideas to try:
Damson Gin Fizz
30ml Amfora's Artisan Gin
45ml Damson Gin Liqueur
30mL Freshly squeezed lime juice
1 teaspoon simple sugar syrup
How to make:
1.) Add all but the club soda to a shaker and mix 'athletically'!
2.) Strain into a tall chilled glass
3.) Drop the club water in from a height to accentuate the foam
